Blake Blossom Cast as Spider-Gwen in Axel Braun's 'Spideypool'

LOS ANGELES—After an extensive casting search, four-time AVN Director of the Year Axel Braun and Wicked Comix have announced that 2022 AVN Best New Starlet Blake Blossom has been cast as Gwen Stacy AKA Spider-Gwen, in the director's latest superhero spoof, Spideypool XXX: An Axel Braun Parody. Spider-Gwen is a heroine from an alternate Marvel timeline where Gwen Stacy was bitten by a radioactive spider rather than Peter Parker, leading to her masked vigilante career as Spider-Woman, commonly referred to as Spider-Gwen.

“Blake was just phenomenal,” said Braun, who is in his second year serving as Head of Production for Wicked Pictures. “Her audition was fantastic, but on set she actually surpassed my expectations. From her look and her acting abilities to her extremely physical take on the character of Gwen, she was simply outstanding, and if that weren’t enough she was also a delight to be around. Sexy, funny, thoughtful and 100 percent committed. Not to mention the fact that she possesses the most perfect set of natural boobs in the industry. She absolutely killed it as Spider-Gwen and it doesn’t take a genius to see that this girl has a very bright future ahead of her.”

Gwen Stacy is a character near and dear to the director's heart, and one whom he initially brought to life over a decade ago in the classic Spider-Man XXX: A Porn Parody, where she was portrayed by Ash Hollywood. Braun felt the need to conduct a large-scale search for the new Gwen due to the fact that Spideypool XXX will mark the first time Spider-Gwen has been depicted in either a live-action mainstream or adult film. While Bryce Dallas Howard portrayed Gwen in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3 and Emma Stone assumed the role in The Amazing Spider-Man films with Andrew Garfield, Spider-Gwen's screen appearances have been limited to the animated Spider-Verse series, where the character is voiced by Hailee Steinfeld.

"When I first got the call from my agent about a super secret role in an Axel Braun parody, I was really nervous about what it could possibly be,” said Blossom. “He vaguely explained and sent me a monologue to memorize and record to send in as the audition. I was waiting on pins and needles to find out if I was going to get this huge role and it couldn’t have panned out better! I’ve always enjoyed the Spider-Man universe and was overjoyed that my character was Gwen Stacy on Earth-65, aka Spider-Gwen!”

“The death of Gwen Stacy was a huge moment in my childhood, and it’s fair to say it changed the trajectory of not only Spider-Man, but all comic books,” Braun recalled. “In Italy, where I grew up, it happened two years later than here, on June 5, 1975. I was eight years old, and I remember reading that issue of Amazing Spider-Man and being terribly shaken by the sudden demise of what was basically the perfect girl. I spoke to my dad about her as if she were real, which is a testament to how fully fleshed and relatable these characters were. The fact that such a major, beloved, innocent character was killed off, and most importantly that Peter had accidentally been the one who killed her, was such a ballsy move that it still resonates today. When Gwen was brought back as Spider-Woman in 2014, it gave us fans an opportunity to explore that character again, and I’ve been waiting ever since to bring her in my own parody universe. Finding Blake finally made it a reality.”

“I actually did a ton of character research, read a bunch of comics and rewatched all the movies to get a better understanding of what type of girl Gwen is and was,” Blossom divulged. “My favorite, and the most painstaking part of the entire production, was my costume design. The costume itself was handmade with custom screen printed fabric and was literally skintight. The gloves were fully sewn on, as well as the heels, and of course they had to figure out a way to get my boobs out during the sex scene without compromising the integrity of the costume or the lines of the design. Axel had such a wonderful and precise vision for my character and his attention to detail throughout the whole process was incredible. Tyler Cruise and I had never worked together before but his version of Peter Parker is hilarious! Our dialogue was playfully written and Axel gave both of us helpful directions to improve the delivery and comedic timing. Being part of this cast was so fun and I hope there’s a part two to Gwen’s story! Thank you to everyone who helped make my beautiful Spider-suit, my hair and makeup and the lovely crew who made every step as comfortable as possible! And to Axel especially for trusting me to deliver a hot ass Gwen to the table! Long Live Gwendolyn Stacy (on Earth-616), RIP.”

The Spideypool XXX  cast that also includes Ryan Driller as Dr. Strange. A senior member of the AxelVerse repertory company, Driller has played the role of Superman for Braun a record seven times in such multiple award-winning Wicked Comix hits as Batman V Superman XXX and Justice League XXX. Reigning AVN Best Leading Actress Kenna James has been cast as Mary Jane Watson, the female lead portrayed by Kirsten Dunst in Sam Raimi's classic Spider-Man trilogy. She last collaborated with Braun in his landmark 2017 black & white hit The Possession of Mrs. Hyde.

Other AxelVerse vets will be reprising their roles from other interrelated Wicked Comix movies, most notably three-time AVN Best Actor and Gamma exclusive contract performer Seth Gamble. Spideypool XXX will see the return of Gamble to the role of Deadpool, the character he originated in Deadpool XXX and reprised for Captain Marvel XXX and, most recently, Black Widow XXX.

“When Axel showed me Blake’s audition, I immediately saw why he felt she was perfect for the role,” Gamble said of the casting. “There’s no single moment in her monologue in which she suddenly ‘becomes’ Gwen Stacy—it’s there from the start, fully formed. She brings a natural veracity to the part. If you’ve seen anything she's been in over the past year, you already know she's beautiful, sexy, funny, watchful and utterly persuasive. But as Gwen, she gives precise form and delicate feeling to emotions and experiences that, despite the comic book specificity of the circumstances, everyone will recognize. She's a visceral performer and a convincing actress who looks and moves like the Spider-Gwen we all remember from the source material.”
