BBW Model Southern Somer Passes Away

LAS VEGAS—On October 1, BBW model Southern Somer passed away in her sleep at her home in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was 37. A cause of death has not been determined but Somer had been in ill health prior to her death, according to a friend, Paige Reign.

Somer was described by Reign as a person who had a huge heart, made everyone laugh with her Southern wit, and as someone who lived life to the fullest.

“Somer was a free-spirited, kind-hearted woman,” said Reign's husband, Jack Plowher. “I had the pleasure of knowing her for a few years. Eventually she became mine and Paige Reign’s best friend.”

Originally from Arkansas, Somer lived in Las Vegas for the past seven years, eventually finding a home within the BBW community two years ago. A popular figure inside the community, Somer had done numerous Clips4Sale scenes, and was best known for her fetish work, interracial and MILF-themed clips. Somer was also scheduled to shoot for Plumper Pass in December.

“Somer was a fiercely loyal friend to all she cared for,” said friend Eliza Allure. “Her life was a gift to her friends. She always made time to listen to her friends. Her passing is a tragedy. She will be missed by a lot of people in and out of the adult industry.”

“Somer was an amazing person,” said Don Asstronut. “I didn't know her too well but she had a very big impact on my life. I never had the chance to shoot with her but we were talking about it and the things she had in mind where amazing. She was very creative. I know others would say she was a very happy, outgoing person. She was always smiling. She [lit] up a room when she walked in.”

A memorial service will be held for Somer on Sunday, October 19 from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Pacific Legend West Clubhouse, located at 1830 N Buffalo Drive in Las Vegas. A memorial fund has also been established for Somer. Those wishing to donate may do so by clicking here.
