Axel Braun Announces Casting Call for 'Spideypool XXX'

LOS ANGELES—Wicked Comix today announced that pre-production has begun on AVN Hall of Fame director Axel Braun’s newest big-budget spoof, Spideypool XXX: An Axel Braun Parody, and that the search is on for the actors who will play the lead roles of Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson.

A hugely popular "slash pairing" in the Marvel fandom between Wade Wilson (Deadpool) and Peter Parker (Spider-Man), “Spideypool" is a term that refers to their canonical team ups, which began in the comic Amazing Spider-Man #611 (2010) when Deadpool was hired to distract Spider-Man as part of a job contract. A hilarious bromance quickly blossomed, and they have now become a superhero "odd couple,” much to the amusement of comic book aficionados worldwide.

"I just had to do it,” said Braun, a self-professed comic-book geek who over the past decade has parodied everything from Star Wars to Elvis Presley with huge critical and commercial success, and who has created his own version of both the MCU and DCEU called the "AxelVerse."

“As a fan, this is something that I’ve wanted to see happen for a long time, and since we are highly unlikely to ever get it from mainstream, I figured I’d take matters in my own hands and bring it to life ... at least in parody form!” said Braun, who has been Head of Production for Wicked Pictures since December 2020, when the company was acquired by Gamma Entertainment.

“With social media now such a driving force in our lives, anything is possible,” Braun continued. “And comic fans are very vocal—look at what happened when Ryan Reynolds leaked some test footage he had shot of himself as Deadpool, or at the massive fan movement that persuaded Warner Bros. to fork out $70M for the Snyder Cut of Justice League. It could totally happen, I guess I'll just have to make sure my movie doesn’t suck!"

Braun’s follow-up parody to Black Widow XXX, which just took home the First Choice Award at the 29th annual NightMoves show in Tampa, SpideyPool XXX will see Gamma exclusive contract performer Seth Gamble once again reprise his Best Actor-winning role as Deadpool, while Spider-Man, previously portrayed eight times in the AxelVerse by Xander Corvus, will be recast, along with Mary Jane Watson.

“Xander was always phenomenal as Spidey,” Braun said. “I’ve always said he was the best Spider-Man ever put on screen, and I don’t mean just in an adult movie ... so there’s some pretty big shoes to fill, definitely!”

Even Andrew Garfield, the Oscar-nominated star of The Social Network who took on the role in 2012 for The Amazing Spider-Man and its sequel, was impressed by Corvus’ portrayal, admitting to Hollywood.com that he watched Braun’s Spider-Man XXX to mentally prepare for the part. “I watched it a few times,” he confessed, “but more from an inspirational standpoint than from a sexual standpoint,” which is a testament to both Corvus' charisma and Braun’s talent for crafting comic-accurate porn parodies that transcend their sexual performances.

“Spider-Man is going to be a very demanding role, and I want to make sure that whoever I choose will be able to really give me and the movie 110 percent,” said Braun. "It all starts with showing me that they’re willing to take the time and put in the work for a killer audition. And if I see someone who’s great, but not right for this specific role, I will always remember them for future projects."

With Deadpool 3 confirmed for 2023, and the highly anticipated Spider-Man: No Way Home starring Tom Holland and Zendaya coming to theaters in just over a month (and its trailer racking up 355.5 million views on the first day), appetite for these two superheroes is at an all-time high, and Spideypool XXX may just bridge the gap between their two mainstream appearances, with three-time-consecutive AVN Best Actor Seth Gamble more than ready to play the "Merc With the Mouth" once again.

“Axel’s script is hysterical, as per usual,” said Gamble, a longtime Braun protegè who on top of Deadpool has embodied roles as diverse as Luke Skywalker, Captain Boomerang, and Mr. Hyde in some of the director’s most successful projects. “They say if you play a character long enough you become him or he becomes you ... all I can say is that every time I put that sweaty, smelly costume on, I instantly turn into Deadpool. It’s really crazy, I automatically start to talk differently, move differently ... and yes, I even fuck differently, because I have to stay in character and perform like he would, so it’s kinda funny and creepy at the same time, but I guess that’s literally Deadpool in a nutshell!"

Mary Jane Watson, Spider-Man’s redhead love interest, was previously portrayed by Capri Anderson, a former girlfriend of Charlie Sheen who famously re-enacted the iconic upside-down kiss from Sam Raimi’s first Spider-Man movie and turned it into an even more iconic upside-down blowjob.

“The MJ we got in the movies was never right for me,” quipped Braun. “I grew up with the John Romita Mary Jane, who was a bubbly, sexy breath of fresh air in the comics. Her flamboyance and life-of-the-party personality were contagious and made her not only fun to read but also an obvious source of sexual fantasies for most readers. She was super hot, had a great smile, and you always wondered what she would say or do next ... and I really want to bring that spirit to the screen!"

Performers who previously won a role in a Braun movie with a video audition include Kleio Valentien, who ended up winning back-to-back Best Supporting Actress and Best Actress AVN Awards for her portrayal of Harley Quinn in Batman v Superman XXX and Suicide Squad XXX; Avi Love, the star of the 2019 AVN Movie of the Year The Possession of Mrs. Hyde, and winner of the Best Boy/Girl Sex Scene AVN Award for the same movie; Romi Rain, who played Wonder Woman in Justice League XXX and went on to host the AVN Awards the following year; and Kenzie Taylor, who landed the lead in the blockbuster Captain Marvel XXX and saw her career skyrocket.
