When the three-day weekend ends, veteran adult journalist, editor and chairman of the X-Rated Critics Organization (XRCO), Jared Rutter, will join the editorial staff of AVN, bringing over three decades of publishing experience to his new position as senior editor. In another editorial hiring, Peter Warren began his job as associate editor for AVN on Friday.

"This is the ultimate team of writers, editors, porn journalists and critics with goals of achieving convergence between mainstream entertainment, the Internet and the adult entertainment industry. Jared’s the best writer and editor and Pete’s the hungriest writer in the industry. AVN is growing up. After all, we’re turning 21 this year,” Connelly said.
Rutter comes to AVN from Knight’s Publishing, where he wrote Adam Magazine, Amateur Porn, Adam Black Video and edited The Directory of of Adult Films, Knight Publishing’s most familiar brands pertaining to the adult industry.
Rutter, a UCLA graduate, worked on various men’s magazines and even a popular history magazine before taking the helm of Film World Reports, a bi-weekly adult industry newsletter that was the beginning of his involvement with the adult video industry. Rutter ran Film World Reports for seven years before moving on to new magazines for Knight Publishing – spending the last ten years editing a variety of projects, including Adam Presents Amateur Porn under the nom de plume Harvey Grind.
“I’m very happy to be starting a new job. AVN is a first class magazine and I’m happy to be on board,” Rutter told AVN.com.
Rutter will retain his position as chairmen of the XRCO Awards, a position he has held for 19 years.
Scott Small is replacing Rutter as editor of Amateur Porn.
The other new member of the AVN editorial staff, Peter Warren, a freelance entertainment writer for a number of publications, including reviewing videos and films for AVN for the last six months using the pseudonym Wetscrog Rex.
“An AVN job is to me, as far as writing jobs goes, is kinda like the Hope Diamond; one of a kind and virtually unobtainable and there aren’t many people who wouldn’t kill to do it,” Warren said.
Warren, 28, graduated from the University of Northern California – Chapel Hill and attended graduate school for a year before pursuing his career as a journalist.
