Ava Rose Talks to AVN About 'Carolina Jones'

CHATSWORTH, Calif. - Adam & Eve is releasing its big-budget sex epic Carolina Jones and the Broken Covenant today, reaping a windfall of publicity from the buzz about the Cannes premiere of the new edition of the Steven Spielberg franchise it parodies.

The movie was shot entirely in Hungary, with a full complement of special effects and action sequences, and Adam & Eve is pulling out all its big guns to promote it.

Ava Rose, who has the title role, stopped by AVN's offices with vice-president of marketing Peter Reynolds to talk about the film. And co-star Bree Olson will be promoting the movie tonight in Las Vegas at Adult Superstore, 3850 W. Tropicana, near Valley View, between 5 and 8 p.m.

Rose told AVN that acting in the movie was "quite an amazing adventure." She and Olson, both A&E contract exclusives, made it in Hungary during a week of particularly inclement weather, with temps dipping into the 30s at night.

"Rain and cold, in September. Omigosh, the first day we shot like 23 hours. But it was fun. You get to sleep in between. We were shooting in the caves all day."

That's actual caves. "People play paintball in them," Rose said.

Reynolds added, "The reason we went to Hungary is you can't get really old buildings-and caves-in places like Van Nuys."

Rose and Olson have a girl-girl-boy scene with Karim (aka Zenza Raggi). "We were shooting that at like four in the morning. It was freezing."

The Adam & Eve girls were the only Americans in the cast, which was rounded out on the female side by Hungarian beauties Nikki Blond and Roxy Panther. Rose has a sex scene with French actor David Perry. The other men are Steve Holmes and James Brossman.

Rose also had her share of action sequences. "I stab Nikki Blond to save Bree at the beginning of the movie. I put a drill through Steve Holmes' head.  All of the killing is in the beginning. I fought a monk. Not a real one, obviously. We had a fight scene."

Carolina Jones is Rose's second big movie with director Kane, after the film noir takeoff Dark City. "I like working with him a lot. He's known for his long days. It's well worth it in the end. You're happy with the outcome."

"He's a perfectionist," Reynolds said, adding that Adam & Eve spared no expense on this particular project.

"We have a movie with explosions, a big story line, it's an erotic movie but it's also very entertaining. We have broadcast, hotel, pay-per-view in mind, obviously. So it has to have all that substance.  The film has Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound, a two-disc set. It's a movie you really can watch in a home theater. We're very proud of it."

Rose has another blockbuster coming up in September as one of the stars of Roller Dollz, an A&E-Zero Tolerance co-production. She also appears in Shades of Romona, a title in A&E's Independent Adult Cinema (IAC) line, from fledgling director Vien Savio.
