The married men’s moves are so inept that the company is testing out “dating coaches” to help the clueless “married but dating other people” husbands who have no game. Chief Strategy Officer Paul Keable reports that the new approach is working, and that male users have seen a 250 percent increase in their responses. This is probably due to the fact that messages that start with “Hey” accompanied by a dick pic have been replaced with something more respectful, and less ridiculous.
The worldwide site has 18,000 sign-ups a day, and more than 60 million philandering husbands and wives looking to live the site’s motto: “Life is short, have an affair.”
“The feedback we get from women,” says Keable, “is that they come to the site with expectations that are not being met.” The dating coaches, he says help men to date with some new “skills,” which according to both single and married women are lacking.” (Ask any woman on a dating site how men act and she will use the words “harassing,” “begging” and “There has to be a new opening approach other than sending a dick pic.”) “We want to help men be more respectful,” says Keable, which will help cut down on the uninvited boner shots.
We are all for dating and sex education, so we like the idea, which is based on a chat function with the coaches. Eight credits, which cost 50 cents a credit, get the conversation with a coach started. The female coaches offer men advice on how to talk to women, how to get a pleasant conversation going, and how to plan a date before turning anyone off. The goal is to “have even more successful affairs,” says Keable. “We want to put tech aside and try to add the human element to online dating.” The dating coaches encourage “honest” conversation, he says, as married people try to sleep with other married people. But at least the ladies will finally get some respect.
