AdultXModels.com: Porn's Online Talent Agency

With seemingly thousands of adult Websites appearing on the Web every month, few have provided an equitable forum to feature new talent. AdultXModels.com offers itself as a key destination for adult content producers seeking freshly-minted or experienced models and performers.

A closer look at AdultXModels.com reveals a networking portal for models and producers that has morphed into a vibrant online community. Indeed, a Website banner proclaims: "AdultXModels.com is dedicated to helping you connect and succeed in the adult industry."

The site started in March and currently boasts over 2,000 members worldwide, including 1,400 producers and 600 models.

After hearing so many horror stories from his friends in the industry, Bill Slevin, a specialist in Web graphics design, and his friend Frank Marrara, came up with the idea for the Website. "We wanted to make a better place for models to find work and for producers to find talent. There are so many great professional people out there looking for work, but up until now there wasn't any safe and secure place for them to connect," Slevin says.

Slevin also wanted to create a place that people could find work and content without unwanted cookies, contact information being sold, or spam e-mail. "We have no ads on our site, which is proof that we are here to help the models and producers not to try and sell them products or services," Slevin says.

The Website is password-protected to help keep out surfers trolling for free photos and, more importantly, potential stalkers. "Models do not seem to understand that they have obsessed fans out there that can easily find a model Website, get their personal contact information, and cause many problems," Slevin says.

A new booking system streamlines the process for keeping track of bookings. A model can respond to a booking through the system without using his or her personal e-mail address. In this capacity, AdultXModels acts as helpful switchboard. Another section offers a platform for models and producers to post their feedback. "We review all the comments to make sure they're legit," Slevin says.

Since it's better to be safe than sorry, after submitting a copy of current ID for compliance with the 2257 age verification statute, models may then submit up to 25 photos to their profiles.

Early Web experience for Slevin consisted of teaching himself HTML and attending technical school for a computer repair degree. After serving seven years as a managing director for a New York brokerage firm, the Internet called Slevin back. When his first Website designs were adopted by the Rockin' Rollers, New Jersey's professional roller hockey team, and a few Hollywood celebrities, Slevin knew he was onto something bigger and better.

When working with models, Slevin advises producers to respect them as if they were family members. "If the models weren't here, there'd be no content for you to work with. Plus, a happy model makes for a better shoot. If she's uncomfortable or mad, it'll show in the photos," he says.

Upon completion of any job contract assisted by AdultXdodels.com, the site collects a five percent commission from both the models featured and the content producers who seek them. A delinquent commission payment from either party earns the offending party a permanent blacklist from the site's future listings.

Indeed, Slevin is easily ticked off by three things: time-wasters, people looking to take advantage of the girls just to get laid, and others who tend to give the industry a bad name. Instead, for legitimate aspiring Webmasters, he recommends attending Internext (www.internext-expo.com) and other industry shows. "All the seminars are filled with a lot of information and people willing to help," he says.

AdultChamber.com selected Slevin as its "Webmaster of the Month" in May. He's also a finalist for the "Webmaster of the Year" title, to be awarded at the January Internext in Las Vegas.

Upon winning the award, the collegiate computer science major said, "A great adult Webmaster is someone who can not only work behind the scenes on the sites, but someone who can work with the people and respect everyone the same. To be involved in helping the industry, he or she should be involved in the issues and help in our ongoing fight for free speech. A Webmaster is in no way just a person who runs a Website."
