SAN DIEGO — Eleven-time AVN Award-winner Adriana Chechik is preparing for surgery after fracturing her back in two places when she leaped into a foam pit at TwitchCon on Saturday, BuzzFeed reported.
The performer told fans in a Twitter post Sunday that she suffered the injuries at the San Diego event meant to celebrate Twitch, a gaming platform where she’s among its most popular players.
“Well, I broke my back in two places and am getting surgery to put a meter rod in for support today. Send your support,” Chechik wrote on Twitter. “When it rains it pours and I am definitely feeling the rain right now.”
The 2017 AVN Female Performer of the Year told AVN that she will be going into surgery on Wednesday and face an estimated year-long recovery period.
Video of the incident, seen here, was captured on a livestream, then shared to Reddit and social media, showing the end of a foam sword fight between Chechik and a person who later identified as gaming streamer EdyBot.
The video showed EdyBot had fallen into the pit, then Chechik celebrating by jumping from her small podium-like platform into the air, doing the splits, and landing on her tailbone. Writhing in pain, unable to get up, she tries to exit, then collapses.
The foam pit was organized by computer-maker Lenovo and was part of its “Legion by Lenovo” booth at the convention.
