Adam & Eve to Launch IAC Line at Voluptuous Life Party

CHATSWORTH, Calif. – Adam & Eve will use its Friday night release party for Carlos Batts’ Voluptuous Life as a “light launch” for a new line, IAC (Independent Adult Cinema), set to debut in 2008.

According to Peter Reynolds, A&E’s vice-president of sales and marketing, the Batts movie is a “precursor” of IAC releases. He scheduled it for the Bad Seed gonzo imprint before “I decided to do a whole line” of “alternative” hardcore.

The IAC directors roster includes Batts (with the all-hardcore Young Hollywood), Joe Gallant, Joanna Angel and Max Power. Reynolds calls them “directors that think outside the box. They’re very alternative—but not ‘Alt.’ They just have a different, more creative way of shooting adult.”

Batts is a well-known avant-garde and fashion photographer, with three coffee-table photo books to his credit. April Flores, his full-figured Latina muse and the star of Voluptuous Life, has been profiled on Univision’s 'En Rojo Vivo', an 'Entertainment Tonight'-style program shown throughout Latin America.

The unrated version of the movie was recently capsule-reviewed in the New York Times.

As part of their promotional campaign, Adam & Eve is raffling off four original Batts photos of Flores to distributors. The drawing will take place at A&E’s Chatsworth offices, with the winner announced a week from Friday.

The Voluptuous Life party is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 30, at Area 101 Studios, 1051 Cole Ave., Stage B, in Hollywood. Reynolds calls it “a creative space that hosts avant-garde erotic and fashion photography exhibits and celebrity fashion shoots.”

He aims for the event to bring together “the best of the adult movie world and the best of the fashion world.” It will feature two deejays in two different rooms plus a kissing booth and an open bar. Those interested in attending must RSVP to [email protected].
