Abigail Mac calls her feature showcase for Tushy “probably the most intense thing I’ve ever done.”
“Not just in my career, in my life,” Mac tells AVN. “I love acting. I did musical theater as a child. I was a performer. I did cheerleading and things like that.”
It’s safe to say fans got a glimpse of Mac like they had never seen her before in Abigail, the big-budget star vehicle that was executive produced by Greg Lansky and directed by Kayden Kross.
Mac, who grew up in the Baltimore area and also has lived in Montana and Oregon, did her first anal and double penetration sex scenes in the movie. It was only fitting since Mac also performed her first interracial scene with Flash Brown for Lansky’s Blacked in 2015.
The homage to Fast Times at Ridgemont High went on to win the 2016 AVN Award for Best Boy/Girl Sex Scene.
“We’re business friends and personal friends,” says Mac, who trained servers at Cheesecake Factory and waited tables at Outback Steakhouse before porn—in addition to camming on Streamate. “He’s been there for me for all the big things in my career. I’m very grateful for him.”
To prepare for her career-defining role as a cunning relationship fixer in Abigail, Mac took Kayden Kross’s advice.
“When I step in front of a camera and have lines I get extremely nervous because I want to do the best job possible. So Kayden recommended I see an acting coach,” Mac reveals.
She learned more about the nuances of delivery and refined her on-screen mannerisms with her coach. When it came time to do it for real, she poured everything she had into every scene.
“We would shoot it 10 to 15 times to get it perfect,” Mac says. “We really took the time and focused on, ‘What is the emotion behind the line? Why are we here in the first place?’ We were thinking much deeper in every little thing …”
She continues, “Memorizing the script is one thing, but to have emotion and to play a character who is not yourself is very challenging.”
Mac meditated beforehand to get into character so she could “live in this other person” for three weeks.
“We shot it in 13 days spread over about three weeks time,” she says. “Doing anal for the first time was very challenging.”
Mac, who made her debut in 2012 and had amassed almost 400 credits at press time, says she would never do anything on camera that she hasn’t enjoyed in her personal life. That includes anal sex.
“I wanted to make sure that I loved doing it first and foremost, personally,” she says. “A lot of girls in the industry helped me with tips and tricks and I’m very grateful for them. The whole anal thing was a challenge, but I got my prep down and the people I worked with were so incredible. We had Mick Blue, Markus Dupree, Prince Yahshua, Jax Slayher and Mickey Mod.
“The reason the scenes came out so well and there was so much chemistry on set is because it was so real on set that the sex just came off naturally.”
As each scene debuted on Lansky’s Tushy.com, Mac would set her alarm for 10:30 a.m. that day to wake up and watch herself.
“And it was like I was watching an out-of-body experience,” she says. “I was so nervous. I remember being on set with Mickey. He’s done crazy scenes. He’s done everything. I was like, ‘Thank you so much for even being here.’ I will do my absolute best and I’m excited to work with you.’ He was like, ‘Trust me, you’re fine. You’re gonna rock this out. Don’t worry about it.’”
The entire cast was behind Mac in a way she had yet to experience in her career. Her double-penetration scene—another first—with Prince Yahshua and Jax Slayher “was probably my most nervous.”
Mac says she urged Kross to test her limits when they spoke during dinner before the shoot.
“I told her, ‘I want you to push me as far as I can go physically and mentally. If we’re gonna do it, let’s do it,’” Mac says. “Kayden is such a strong, powerful woman. She knows how I am. She said, ‘Don’t worry about it. You’ll be totally fine.’
Mac continues, “When Prince and Jax both got there I told them thank you so much for being here. It was kind of a long day, but so worth it. I was really honored. Prince is a huge star. … I had never met Jax before, only heard amazing things.”
She says Kross got her in the right mental state after the still photos. “She said, ‘You gotta do it, push yourself right now. Show us what you got.’ She was amping me up the whole time.”
Mac says Prince was “the backbone of the scene.” During one break, she says, “Prince turns to me and he said, ‘You’re my hero. You got this. If anyone can do this, you can. I got you.’
“I wouldn’t have been able to do it without him.”
Her climactic scene with 2018 AVN Male Performer of the Year Markus Dupree was the first time she had done anal with him.
“We have a very natural connection,” she says. “He’s such an energetic performer. It almost seemed like we were old bros. He’s very charismatic and has a charming demeanor about him. Even if he’s making these lines up, he’s got the lines. He could say this to everyone, but he makes you feel like you’re the only one in the room. Like he’s only looking at you.”
