ZANE SPONSORS PRO DRIVER, ED ALEXANDER, IN THE INTERNATIONALLY ACCLAIMED RACE, 'ONE LAP OF AMERICA'.

Zane Entertainment Group has sponsorship status in the 'One Lap of America' race which started yesterday and goes through May 22nd. This race covers 4,100 miles, beginning and ending in Ann Arbor, Michigan, with laps in Kansas, Colorado, Texas, Tennessee, Georgia and South Carolina.

Professional driver, Ed Alexander, called Zane, after meeting publicist, Adella O'Neal at the Consumer Electronic Show in January. Alexander finished second in class 1996 and remembers all the media attention that it received. Hoping to gain extra recognition for his efforts, he thought that using an adult sponsor would certainly generate some hype. Chuck Zane and general manager, Bert Levesque, agreed and were quick to fill the sponsorship spot.

Zane Publicist, Adella O'Neal, says, "It's exciting for us because we've been told that we are the exclusive adult sponsor. We put industry newcomer, Keri Windsor, on a plane. She'll be Ed's co-driver for the entire week, and she'll present herself and Zane to the media. Zane will use the driver side of Ed's custom BMW for promotion. We've made hats, t-shirts and stickers for Keri to throw to the crowds."

Mark Webb, Keri's husband lends an update: "Keri flew to Michigan on Saturday. The race started yesterday. What it involves is, these professional drivers drive from city to city. The actual competition takes place on that city's raceway. Then they have to drive from Michigan to Kansas, Kansas to Denver; Denver to Texas; Texas to Memphis; Memphis to Atlanta and back to Michigan. They use their combined times and that determines the winner of the race.

"It's like Cannonball Run, the movie. Zane sponsored a car with a professional driver. They need at least two drivers, and the driver can have whoever they want [as many as up to four]. Zane wanted to put an adult entertainment person in there. Keri got the call. She didn't have a whole lot of time to plan it. She flew to Michigan, and they're having a blast. They suffered a minor mechanical difficulty yesterday at the Michigan International Speedway. They took a 10-second penalty. They'll be at Topeka today racing. Keri's promoting Zane with T-shirts and hats, but she's actually driving from city to city. She's assisting the driver - while he's sleeping, she's driving. She doesn't do any of the speed-stuff because she's not qualified. Tomorrow will be Denver. The following day will be Texas. She'll be home next Sunday.

"From SAG to porn to race car driver. What next? This business affords many strange opportunities. At first I was apprehensive about this. We had about three days to plan this. Zane had T-shirts delivered to her house Saturday morning at 2am. Her flight was like 6am. Keri took along a vidcam to film bits and pieces to document it. Why Zane picked her is a Bert and Chuck question. Keri has done a few movies for them. Timing wise, it worked out well. Keri wasn't going to Cannes.

"They're going from Michigan International Speedway to Heartland Park Raceway, Kansas; then Pikes' Peak International Raceway, then Texas World Speedway, then Memphis International Road Course, the Memphis International Drag Race Course, Road Atlanta, then Waterford Hills in Michigan and Ann Arbor for the finish. They're racing in a vintage BMW. To give you an idea, when they get to the speedtrack, they have to take out the passenger seat and unload all the luggage. There's 104 different teams in this event."
