Two years after it was outshot by MSN, Yahoo and the National Hockey League are back at the blue line: Yahoo has confirmed they're offering streaming video highlights of the NHL playoffs as part of its Platinum service, including plays of the day, plays of thr week, game highlights, and "cool shots" clips.
The bad news is that you won't be able to watch or hear the actual games live on Yahoo. The NHL said those will stay on Microsoft Windows Media Player through MSN, which signed a new live video deal with the NHL in 2001, after Yahoo's Broadcast.com deal with the league expired.
The Platinum option is Yahoo's bid to compete with RealNetworks's RealOne SuperPass service, according to CNET.com
