LOS ANGELES - Serenity, Jewel De'Nyle, and Keisha are to be among the special guests March 18 when noted broadcast sex therapist Dr. Susan Block presents an erotic interpretation of the Purim story of Esther, the queen who spared her fellow Jews from the gallows in ancient Persia.
Block says her interpretation will discuss "timeless questions and lessons about politics, prejudice, and sexuality that this ancient piece of Judeo-Christian heritage imparts." She'll also read from her short story "Esther," which was published in The Erotic Edge, and serve Purim-particular food and drink.
Esther was the beauteous queen who seduced and married Persian king Mordechai, then pressed him to revoke a genocidal edict handed down by his minister Haman. "It's a wild, Biblical tale... and (our) guests and callers are bound to render it even wilder," Block says.
Following the program, guests and studio audience are to be invited to see Bondage Cross by Mario Saucedo, the most popular interactive sculpture at Block's Speakeasy Gallery.
The special performance will be edited for future broadcast as a half-hour episode of Block's weekly cable TV program, but the curious can see it live at www.drsusanblock.com at 10 p.m. PST.
