A frequent contributer to this site, gym rat, ex pro wrestler and freelance writer/gossip columnist Steve Neece wrote a piece about Nicole Bass and the XPW which appears in the February 2000 issue of Musclemag International. Says Neece: "Nicole Bass and the WWF may have parted ways, but the phone has been ringing off the hook for personal appearances here, there and everywhere. One of these appearances brought her out to LA to liven up a new wrestling promotion called Xtreme Pro Wrestling [owned by Rob Black].
"The best way to describe them is to say they are the west coast version of ECW [Extreme Championship Wrestling]." Neece writes. "XPO honcho Robert Black would probably resent that comparison and claim XPW is head and shoulders above any organization when it comes to putting on the wildest, bloodiest shows anywhere. Their matches are definitely not for the squeamish or the straitlaced! Nicole rocked the house. She was the bodyguard of main eventer Damien Steele, who wrestled in a cage match with Big Dick Dudley. She warmed up by destroying two lightweight male wrestlers with choke slams. Fans were amazed!"
Neece reports that Bass was offered a contract by Xtreme but turned it down because she makes more money working independently. "That does not rule out further appearances with XPW," Neece reports. "Among others bidding for are are WCW."
Writes Neece: "Yes, the Robert Black mentioned is the guy who makes all those shocking porn vids. He wants to branch into wrestling and is looking for new talent." Neece reports that Bass was treated "royally" by Black and company.
