-even children--from checking out the R-rated videos in its collection.\n Members of the Sweetwater County Library Board voted to continue its policy of open access to information for all age groups. "This policy puts responsibility where it ought to be--on the parents," said Ron Beck, board chairman.\n The question came up after a local resident said she was concerned about children having access to the videos. She suggested the library adopt a policy similar to those at video stores that would restrict R-rated videos from minors.\n Library system director Helen Higby said the library's mission is to meet the needs of patrons by providing organized, uncensored collections, modern technology and a trained staff. Once parents sign a document letting their children get a library card, the staff should not have to act as parents, she said.\n "It is not the library staff's responsibility to restrict children to one part of the library or another," Higby said.
