World Modeling Talent Agency, once known as the elite agency in the industry, is closing its doors this week.
Jim South, the agency’s owner and founder, confirmed Monday that he will close World Modeling for good today, the Los Angeles Daily News reported.
South said he is burned out and had been seeking to sell the agency earlier this year, but when that failed, he decided to close it for good.
South founded his agency in 1975 and went on to become the premier talent agency in the industry, handling more than 150 performers at one point. South’s agency continued to grow even as the business moved from film to video in the 1980s and into DVDs in the late 1990s. But as other agencies appeared and began taking market share, South continued on, still handling a slew of top performers.
Among those he represented were Ginger Lynn, Amber Lynn, Savannah, Christy Canyon and scores of others, including most recently Monica Mayhem, Katie Gold, India, Layla Star, Jayna Woods and others.
