Women In Adult named its inaugural board of directors October 1, with Lori Z. of XBiz as president, Amparo Alcarez of PayCom.net vice president, and founder Holly Moss of Hmoss Consulting as chairman.
“We see the forming of the Board of Directors as the next logical step in making WIA an organization that empowers women professionals and provides a common ground for networking, education and support,” said XXXCash director of sales Rainey Stricklin, who was named to the WIA board as communications director
Shelly Moss was named treasurer and Bonnie Moss secretary of the new group. Other new board members include Tammi Hainey, Electracash sales director, as board administrator, and Ashley Fonenot of AshleyFonenot.com as creative director.
Lori Z. told AVN.com that getting the foundation set and the structure in place means the group can move forward toward meeting goals like setting up networking and strategic relationships, enhancing the contributions of women to the business side of adult entertainment, establishing business directories and networking events, seminar sessions, "anything that will be able to bring people in the industry, both men and women, together to network.
"The interesting thing about Women In Adult," she continued, "is that a lot of these women, including myself, at the end of the day work for a company that's owned by a man. And it only behooves the industry to acknowledge Women In Adult. It's actually advantageous to everybody. And I'm happy to be a part of it and do what I can to help. It's worth the time and effort to me. The time's come."
Tina Fiora of VideoSecrets was named WIA's West Coast membership representative and Lori Deak of MenOnTheNet.com was named East Coast membership representative. Beth Belcher of TabooTracking was named Midwest membership representative, while the board named two events coordinators, Ani Vartonian of AdultLounge and Lisa Rodriguez of TopBucks. Adult Sites Against Child Pornography executive director Joan Irvine was named the group's advisory counsel, Goodthinxxcash.com managing director Tanja Raham was named international liaison, and AVN vice president of sales Jennifer Rosenblatt was named media advisor.
Stricklin said the group held its first board meeting by conference call, discussing each board member's responsibilities, goals for the coming months about developing their Website and promotional items and activities, and other matters.
"There has been a tremendous amount of interest expressed in WIA," she said, "and now it's time for the organization to grow up."
