LOS ANGELES—Wicked Pictures director Brad Armstrong, named Best Director - Feature at the 2015 AVN Awards, is plunging into the parody genre with his next big project, Wicked Pictures announced today. Later this week the cameras will roll on Armstrong's production of Magic Mike XXXL: A Hardcore Parody—which will see the director tackling a subject that's all too familiar to him.
“I lived the life of a male stripper for over ten years before I got into the adult industry,” revealed Armstrong, whose Aftermath won AVN’s Best Drama award at this year's ceremony. “Being a dancer was really my stepping-stone into porn. I almost did a Magic Mike parody when the first one came out, but I wasn’t sure how well it would be received. Now that there is a sequel, I didn’t want to miss this chance to do it. When I heard they were calling it Magic Mike XXL it was obvious it could be perfectly parodied by turning it into XXXL. It was just too good to pass up.”
Armstrong has found success in the parody genre before, winning an AVN Award for Best Parody with The Rocki Whore Picture Show: A Hardcore Parody as well as a nomination for Men in Black: A Hardcore Parody. Members of the press are invited to catch his latest foray into the genre when production gets underway at week's end.
While pre-production on The Rocki Whore Picture Show saw Armstrong holding elaborate, industry-wide auditions, the director’s pre-production process for XXXL has been much more streamlined. “I was going to have a big casting call and dance tryouts, but when I started looking at the mainstream actors alongside our industry’s talent pool, my choices became VERY clear,” he enthused. ”The cast started jumping out at me. We quickly moved into rehearsals for the group number and the rest is history. I’m super excited to get shooting underway. It’s been so much fun getting the guys ready for the stage—it kind of felt like my old stripper days,” he reminisced.
“Magic Mike XXXL: A Hardcore Parody will spoof both the original and the sequel. This gives me the option of playing off of the characters we know and love from the first movie, as well as introducing some of the new characters from the follow-up. I also added a few hot female characters of my own to round out the cast.”
Armstrong’s male cast includes Derrick Pierce (as Mike), Seth Gamble (as The Kid), Ryan Driller (as Ken), Toni Martinez (as Tito), Dick Chibbles (as Tarzan) and Ryan McLane (as Dallas). The females include Wicked Girl and Aftermath star Jessica Drake (as Brooke), Jessa Rhodes (as the Birthday Girl), Kendra Lust (as Nancy) and Adriana Chechik (as Nancy’s daughter).
In addition, Armstrong noted, “Asa Akira and Mia Malkova portray new characters I’ve added to the mix, and Misty Stone plays Rome, a character that parodies the sequel’s female lead.”
Like the mainstream title, Magic Mike XXXL: A Hardcore Parody is slated for a July 2015 release.
