Wicked Forges U.S. Broadcast Deal with Pure Play Broadcasting

LOS ANGELES—Canoga Park-based adult industry powerhouse Wicked Pictures has entered into an exclusive broadcast distribution relationship with Pure Play Broadcasting. Since May 18, the respected VOD giant has been serving as the exclusive broadcast distributor for Wicked's content in the United States, satisfying the growing demand for quality adult programming with the studio's award-winning feature product.

The new agreement was announced just as the National Cable & Telecommunications Association launched The Cable Show 2012, the largest annual cable and telecommunications convention and trade show in the United States. Held at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center May 21-23, the show saw Pure Play Broadcasting's new Executive VP of Distribution Lisa Sumja joined by Wicked VP of International Sales and Licensing Steven Vlottes.

"I believe this relationship is going to be very, very beneficial to us in the months ahead," Vlottes observed upon his return from the Boston convention. "Lisa Sumja is very goal-oriented and has terrific product knowledge. She's working tirelessly to position both our features and other product lines for maximum exposure. I see her raising our brand's visibility in adult programming to an entirely new level."

Since 2004, Pure Play Broadcasting (previously known as Deep Star Broadcasting Systems) has been one of the industry's leading providers of adult broadcast content, and currently delivers over one hundred hours of quality programming each month. Lisa Sumja spent the past nine years helming sales and marketing at Trans Digital Media, where she successfully launching eight VOD services, pushing TDM brands from broadcast market newcomers to established leaders.

"We are so pleased to be in a position to hire such a great find as Lisa," commented Pure Play Broadcasting C.E.O. Richard Arnold. "It is my personal belief that she is the best, most knowledgeable sales executive in the field, bar none."

"I am thrilled to be joining the team at Pure Play Broadcasting, and look forward to further expanding their strong performance and reputation in the U.S. and overseas markets," Sumja said.

Pure Play Broadcasting currently provides Video On Demand content to over 11 million homes in North America through its Heat On Demand VOD service. According to the company's website, rather than provide titles in a random manner as many VOD providers do, Heat On Demand examines viewership trends and patterns from multiple sources such as the Internet and DVD sales, and offers content based on these trends to maximize the revenue opportunity.

In addition to North America, Pure Play Broadcasting provides content for operators in Latin America through Sky Brazil and Sky Mexico. Pure Play Broadcasting also licenses and distributes mature themed content to premium and broadcast channels in the United States and Europe.

For his part, Wicked Pictures President and owner Steve Orenstein looks forward to working with this dynamic company.

"I believe our new deal will be beneficial for both companies," Orenstein said. "Richard Arnold and Lynette Lanning have both been extremely professional and a pleasure to work with over the years in the Canadian market, and I look forward to seeing what they can accomplish in the U.S."

News of Wicked’s new arrangement with Pure Play Broadcasting comes as the company is preparing to release two of its biggest titles for 2012, the big-budget spoof Men In Black: A Hardcore Parody and the compelling end-of-the-world drama, Countdown
