LOS ANGELES—At the beginning of the week, Wicked Pictures released its big fall blockbuster, Brad Armstrong's Underworld. (Click here to read an on-the-set report about the production, and click here for photos from the shoot.) And today, Wicked announced a way for fans to enter Armstrong's fantasy universe themselves with "Flesh for Fantasy: The Underworld Contest."
After the release of this provocative drama about an injured woman (Jessica Drake) caught in a surreal world between life and death, Wicked devotees began asking for a way to show their appreciation for this original fantasy. Wicked is offering them a contest that will allow fans to utilize their creative skills while competing for prizes.
The guidelines are simple. Fans are invited to familiarize themselves with Underworld's various fantasy characters (like the half-machine “Mecca,” the haunting, red-robed super-vixen “Scarlet,” the acrobatic “gauze girl,” and the sewn-together “Stitch”) and tweet their own original character concept to @wickedpictures using the hashtag #Underworld.
The tweet can be as simple as "Athena is the mistress of war & wisdom. She is represented with an owl, symbolizing her knowledge. #Underworld."
To stoke fans' creativity, each week Wicked will release character images from the movie through social media. Those seeking additional inspiration can visit Gawker Media's FleshbotFiction.com, where an Underworld e-book will be available for free download just in time for Halloween.
A creative contest demands creative prizes, and "Flesh for Fantasy: The Underworld Contest" is no exception. The top character submission will be brought to life by Brad Armstrong and Jessica Drake. The visionary director will design the character's look, which Drake will model in a Club magazine pictorial.
In addition to seeing their creation brought to life by Wicked and published in Club, the grand prize winner will receive an Amazon Kindle HD (perfect for watching movies and reading e-books), an autographed DVD, autographed Underworld posters, and a Brad Armstrong/Jessica Drake blockbuster pack. The second- and third-place winners will each receive the DVDs and posters.
The contest begins today, October 4, and runs through 12 midnight PT on November 30. Tweet a character idea to Wicked, win a Kindle Fire HD, and see the final result brought to life in the pages of Club.
