Wasteland.com To Introduce Serial Feature Onsite

Award-winning BDSM/fetish Website Wasteland.com has decided to jump in with serialized feature material for site members: a coming serial series, To The Manor Born, due to premiere at the end of September.

"Basically, it's a parody on the old British sitcom, Fawlty Towers," said Wasteland.com chief and mastermind Colin Rowntree to AVN.com. "The three actors are a man and a woman as the dominants and they have a housemaid/housegirl."

This news came five days after Gwen Media announced they were preparing to introduce an online "Webisode" version of its DVD series, The Crimson Mansion, with the first entry (Brianna Takes Control) due later this fall. Rowntree agreed that such "Webisodes," either original Internet-only creations or Internet versions of video and DVD series, could well enough become a new trend across adult cyberspace.

He expects affiliate Webmasters to respond favorably to the idea, especially as more companies take it up following his own and Gwen Media's maiden flights.

"They'll be hosted movies," he said of To The Manor Born, "to get viewers to get tidbits of the plotline as they go through, but in order to find out what happened, they'll have to purchase a membership. Affiliates are going to, rather than just throwing free porn at people, they're putting forth something that has a plotline and development, and a need (for a viewer) to go someplace to purchase for the rest of the story."

Meanwhile, Wasteland.com plans to re-introduce a revenue share program for affiliate Webmasters, an option to take a 50-60 percent share for the lifetime of the membership. "The way it used to be," Rowntree said, "before the era of the flat payouts. We're adding a sort of retro payment structure back in. A lot of people were asking for it."

Wasteland.com's current SpiceCash affiliate program includes $30-35 flat payouts. They also include and will continue such features as hosted galleries updated weekly, fresh free content monthly, exit sale commissions, a large selection of advertising tools, and "massive" weekly site updates.

This week's new features include fetish photographer Leland Ray, new Asian bondage images, S&M feature film Ohana Mahura, and more.

Launched in 1995, Wasteland.com, of course, won prizes for the Best BDSM & Fetish Site two consecutive years from AVN Online and the People's Choise Awards, and has been featured on A&E, Fox, the BBC, Fetish, Boston, BDSM Magazine, and Hustler's Taboo
