Only five years removed from their gigs as tech consultants in Silicon Valley, Danny Ting and Anh Tran have positioned WantedList.com at the top of the online retailer mountain—and now Wired magazine is intrigued by their run at becoming the Netflix of the porn biz, as evidenced by an article in the magazine’s November issue.
Loaded with information about Ting and Tran, writer Daniel McGinn also provides an interesting glimpse at the WantedList.com business model and operations.
“We’re honored to get profiled by such a prestigious magazine like Wired and we're even more honored to be called the Netflix of Porn on the cover,” Anh Tran, co-founder of WantedList.com, told AVNOnline.com. “The story overall was fair and flattering.”
A sidebar graph reveals interesting data about the company; there are roughly 25,000 WantedList.com members, the company presently has 15,000 titles in stock, 80 percent of their customers are male and the most popular genre is anal.
Titled Skin City, the article, replete with photograph of Ting and Tran flanked by porn stars Jenna Haze and Dana, tracks the ascent of the co-founders from the night they devised their idea for WantedList.com thru all the hard work and obstacles and, of course, all the juicy perks that have come with their success.
“The picture made us laugh because it more or less describes our personalities,” says Tran, “though I'm sure readers would have preferred to get a more close up image of Jenna and Dana than the two of us.”
