LOS ANGELES—Renowned adult entertainment studio Vivid Entertainment is inviting all video retailers—both brick and mortar and online outlets—to participate in a contest to promote its upcoming release of Malice in Lalaland, a groundbreaking DVD from Miss Lucifer Productions.
Vivid will begin distributing Malice on Monday, Sept. 6. Directed by Lew Xypher, the film stars Sasha Grey as Malice and combines animation, live action, hot sex scenes and a rock ’n’ roll score with remarkable post-production and special effects.
“This movie is irresistible,” said Steven Hirsch, Vivid’s founder and co-chairman. “The packaging alone, which includes a 40-page illustrated booklet, will make this a choice collector’s item. It has mainstream sensibility and extraordinary production values with the erotic punch that only scorching sex scenes can deliver.”
Both brick-and-mortar and online stores are eligible to enter the contest. Displays need to be in place by Sept. 6. Photos of displays, including virtual displays supported by banners for online retailers, should be sent to Vivid sales manager Howard Levine ([email protected]). Retailers should contact Levine to obtain posters and artwork for Malice in Lalaland.
The top prize is a high-quality large-screen LCD television set that will be delivered to the winner’s doorstep. The contest results will be publicized by AVN.
Inspired by Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland characters, Malice in Lalaland was shot on 35mm, a rarity these days in the adult marketplace. The title received AVN’s top rating and earned glowing praise from critic Peter Warren: “Hurtling at you with a psychotropic maelstrom of animation, live action and a growling bass track, it delivers right off on the promise of its fantastical, ultra-slick box art, and just gets better from there.”
“We are excited about this contest for a movie that AVN has called ‘quite possibly the best porno ever made,’ Levine noted. ”I think we’ll have some very interesting entries because I know how creative our customers can get.”
