LOS ANGELES - Vivid Entertainment was named Adult Film Studio of the Year at the 2008 StorErotica Awards, held Aug. 25 at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.
The awards are given out as part of the StorErotica Convention and Trade Show, which showcases products and services from the adult retail, video and novelty industries. Vivid beat out seven other major studios to receive the honor.
Adult retail veteran John Cornetta of The Love Shack accepted the award on behalf of Vivid. "Steven Hirsch and Bill Asher run a thriving Vivid today, but when Steven started the company 25 years ago, he had only borrowed money and tremendous determination," he said.
Cornetta went on to note the studio's many significant contributions to the adult video industry. In the 1980s, Vivid revolutionized adult video box cover design with its first release Ginger. The company also introduced the idea of the adult contract girl with that film's star, Ginger Lynn.
Vivid is now at work on its third mainstream reality TV series "Deeper Throat," which will premiere on Showtime.
