LOS ANGELES— Vivid Entertainment said today it has started talks with new potential partners for DVD, television and Internet distribution of its products in Europe.
The company said it was discontinuing its previous relationship with Vivid Europe GMBH.
"We have begun talks with potential new partners in Europe and hope to move forward quickly to make a decision," said Marci Hirsch, the Vivid executive who oversees international sales.
Hirsch works closely with Todd Blatt of Antigua Pictures, who is the point person assisting Vivid opening new channels of distribution and locating qualified licensees out of the U.S.
Hirsch said that any retailers or other entities that had contracts with Vivid Europe GMBH should contact her at [email protected] to make sure that their agreements are fulfilled. Hirsch noted that Vivid has received reports that an unrelated entity, Entertainment Group Switzerland, has purportedly licensed Vivid titles in Europe. Vivid is investigating these reports and will take appropriate actions where necessary to protect its interests. Distributors who have dealt with Entertainment Group Switzerland are urged to contact her.
The studio is famous for movies starring its roster of Vivid Girls, acclaimed big-budget features, its Vivid-Alt and Vivid-Ed imprints and for its popular Vivid-Celeb line of DVDs.
The latest release from Vivid-Celeb is Shauna Sand Exposed, an explicit sex tape starring TV actress Shauna Sand. Sand was married to Lorenzo Lamas, whose family has a new reality series on E! Entertainment Television titled "Leave it to Lamas." Previous Vivid-Celeb movies have starred, Kim Kardashian and Ray J, Vince Neil, former Miss USA Kelli McCarty and Jimi Hendrix.
