LOS ANGELES - Vivid Entertainment Group has struck a deal to distribute a new DVD line drawn from the popular amateur website Matt's Models. The first Matt's Models DVD will arrive on July 24, with additional volumes to follow on a bi-monthly release schedule.
"After we won some awards last year I started receiving phone calls from some of the more well known adult entertainment companies," Matt explained on his website. "At the time I was looking for a distributor for a Matt's Models line of DVDs. One of the calls I got was from Steven Hirsch, co-founder and co-chairman of Vivid Entertainment Group. He made me an offer - I accepted."
Matt decided to go with Vivid based on the company's high profile and its commitment to quality.
"Steven Hirsch is responsible for turning a small backdoor porn business into a multi-million dollar company," Matt said. "Vivid is also greatly responsible for bringing porno into the mainstream. I remember driving down Sunset Blvd. and seeing a Vivid billboard. I remember thinking 'wow porn is going mainstream.' Ask the average person on the street about a million adult websites and they haven't heard of one, but ask them if they've heard of Vivid Video and you will often get a 'yes.'"
"In the eight years I've run Matt's Models, I've never shot or produced anything I thought was harmful or degrading to people. I've always stuck to my own limits and believe Vivid has done the same, regardless of what ridiculous niche other adult companies might be trying to fulfill. This was an important factor for me.
"My DVDs include a little old, a little new, girls who came and disappeared and girls who went on to become bigger stars," continued Matt. "The cool thing is, all footage has been re-edited to DVD from the original raw tapes so you can watch the scenes on your big ass TV screen at home. Also, Vivid did some really tight stuff with the graphics, editing and music."
Matt launched his XXX operation in 1995 while working at a small advertising agency in Southern California with a primary clientele of phone sex companies. After leaving the firm and starting his own agency, he was quickly inundated with offers to provide exclusive material of his girl-next-door type models.
Matt's site specializes in amateur girls, but has produced content for several starlets that have gone on to make a name for themselves — as well as being the first person, in several instances, to shoot them — in the adult industry, including Vivid Girl Monique Alexander, Kaylani Lei, Holly Morgan, Bella Star, Paris Dahl, Violet Blue, Amy Ried and Charlie Laine.
