Vivid-Alt’s Girls Lie to Open at Berlin’s Porn Film Festival

Vivid-Alt’s Girls Lie will have its international premiere at the Porn Film Festival in Berlin on Oct. 21.

The festival begins Wednesday and runs through Oct. 22, with Girls Lie scheduled to premiere at the Kant 1 Theater. U.S. fans will get a chance to see the movie after it reaches stores nationwide on Oct. 24.

The title, which is directed by the head of Vivid-Alt, Eon McKai, features a cast including Charlotte Stokely, Dana DeArmond, Riley Mason and Pixie Pearl.

“I think I took a lot of chances with Girls Lie,” McKai told AVN.com. “It’s so different from anything I’ve ever done…I think it’s more mature.”

The soundtrack for the title is a mix of artists selected by McKai himself, and includes some of his current favorites. The director said assembling the Girls Lie tracks was “a labor of love. I’m almost as proud of the soundtrack as I am of the sex scenes,” he said. The artists include Panthers, Tommie Sunshine, SBSRX, Wolves in the Thrown Room, C.P., Anavan, Subarachnoid Space and Matmos. Matmos, a combo of Drew Daniel and Martin C. Schmidt, are known for their work with Bjork.

Girl’s Lie will be the young production company’s first release to be packaged as a three-disc set. A CD of the soundtrack is included with the release, plus a bonus DVD which includes a behind the scenes feature, a bonus scene with Dana DeArmond, multiple photo galleries and a mini documentary entitled We Weren’t Welcome about a bad day on the set.

“[In the release,] Dana lies, Pixie lies and so does Charlotte,” added McKai. “Of course, they’ve got their reasons for lying and the movie explores what these reasons are, but we can’t escape the fact that no matter how convincing they sound, girls do lie.”

Berlin’s Porn Film Festival was organized by Jurgen Bruning, who also came up with the idea to make Thursday, “Vivid-Alt Porn Night.” The evening will feature screenings of excerpts from four movies from the Vivid-Alt imprint, including The Rebelle Rousers, East Side Story, Skater Girl Fever and DeArmond Does the Internet.

Accompanying McKai to Berlin will be Vena Virago, the director of East Side Story, Malachi Ecks, producer of several Vivid-Alt titles, including Dana DeArmond Does the Internet and Stokely, who is featured in both Skater Girl Fever and Girls Lie. Stokley will also be the cover girl on Germany’s TIP magazine.

Other festival activities include a gallery show with work by Bruce LaBruce, Richard Kern and Nan Goldin. There will also be an opening night screening of Shu Lea Cheang’s I.K.U. a film that is considered inspirational to the alt porn genre.
