VivThomas.com Releases Pink Velvet Box Set

Director Viv Thomas has released a four-disc DVD box set of his lesbian-themed Pink Velvet trilogy. The package includes re-mastered versions of all three movies and over 160 minutes of bonus material, including two deleted scenes.

Born in South Africa, Thomas entered the world of adult in the 1970s as a glamour photographer for magazines including Mayfair and Scope. He began shooting hardcore videos in the '90s, with a heavy emphasis on lesbian, big-bust and leg-fetish themes. Thomas' work has been released by U.S. studios including Video Team, Big Top Video and Tightfit HD.

"The first Pink Velvet movie was inspired by the lack of sexy or erotic all-girl, fully explicit movies out there," Thomas said. "We were going back to a Golden Age of erotic filmmaking, and bringing those conventions into a modern context. The intention from the beginning was to make three films, with three main characters, each one on a journey of self-discovery."

For the new DVD box, Thomas has remixed the soundtrack for his original Pink Velvet to include less music over the sex scenes. In addition to the bonus hardcore scenes, the re-mastered discs include outtakes from all three movies, a 'Making of Pink Velvet 1' documentary, interviews and a behind-the-scenes photo gallery.

The Pink Velvet trilogy has won critical acclaim for the authenticity of its girl/girl scenes. "The cast was carefully chosen," said Thomas. "We wanted to work with girls who were genuinely into other women, and it was shot in a way that the girls could make love freely, naturally, and show us things that lesbians do. As a result, we see positions and sexual techniques we don't normally see. The kissing is unrivalled, the passion generated between the girls unsurpassed; it's quite simply one of a kind."
