Victoria’s Secret Modifies S/M Mall Display

Tradition Values Coalition’s Executive Director, Andrea Lafferty, organized a protest against the Victoria’s Secret store at Tyson’s Corner in Virginia because of what the organization deemed an inappropriate display.

The protest resulted in national news coverage from Newsweek/MSNBC, USA Today, and other media outlets, according to the Adult Freedom Foundation (AFF) monitor. The protest was launched to force Victoria’s Secret to remove its S/M and lesbian-themed mannequins in the store and window displays where those under the age of 18 could see them.

Lafferty last week took photos of the explicit displays in the windows and inside the store

Newsweek/MSNBC reported that the protest included both liberal and conservative women who are deeply offended by the S/M displays and are "concerned about protecting their children from seeing such pornographic materials."

"Where do they go next, live sex acts in the window,” Lafferty asked in a Newsweek article.

One woman who protested the display was told by the manager that she should just walk her two girls on the other side of the mall if they were offended.

Newsweek/MSNBC quoted a number of mothers who are outraged by this S/M display in a suburban mall.

“We’ve got a red light district right here in Vienna, Virginia,” said Christine Watson of McLean. Another mother said, “We are appalled by the Victoria’s Secret windows as well and are doing everything we can to have them changed ASAP.” Protesters wore hot pink stickers that read, “No Bucks For Victoria’s Secret Smut.”

The Newsweek reporter noted, “Let’s just say, if this were a movie, it would definitely be R-rated and pushing for an NC-17.”
