Alt porn director Vena Virago will make her debut for VCA Pictures with Silverlake Scenesters, which centers around the hip, Los Angeles neighborhood of Silver Lake. “When I first moved to the neighborhood, rent was cheap and artists and bohemians could afford to live and work here,” Virago told AVN.com.
“There was a real connection between art and everyday life. It was that vibrant energy that I most wanted to capture in my choice of locations and production design.”
Virago said that that the video, which releases on July 5 and stars Daisy, Delilah Strong, Faith Leon, Haley Scott, Phoebe, Veronica Jett, Barry Scott, Jon E. Depth, Marcos Leon and Tyler Knight, is a mockumentary about the hipster porn stars who live in her neighborhood. “Since there have already been two television shows about Silver Lake,” Virago continued, “I thought it would be fun to make a Silver Lake porno.”
Filmed largely on location, Virago said that she took great care in choosing both the location and the cast for the feature. “Two of the scenes were shot in my friend’s home. His place is basically a psychedelic art installation that he created and lives in…it’s completely unique. The other scenes were shot in a 1920’s Silver Lake bungalow and in a warehouse downtown.
“All three locations, along with the style of the art direction, preserve a very specific moment in Silver Lake’s hipster history.”
“It was also really important to me to have a cast that reflected the creativity and cultural diversity of Silver Lake,” said Virago. “I wanted natural women with tattoos; strong, but not dominant, and all very pretty. The men had to be handsome, hip and the kind of guys who absolutely adore women.
“I’m very happy with the cast and the performances.”
