LAS VEGAS - "Be careful," gasps porn newcomer Marie McCray. "I'm a virgin!"
It's just a few seconds into the trailer for Angel Face, the first new feature in years from classic adult label VCX , and already director Roy Karch has evoked the vibe of vintage porn. This is the sort of movie that might have starred Desiree Cousteau or Traci Lords had it been made back in the bad old days of the early to mid-'80s.
In Ms. McCray, VCX has found the perfect star; she's pretty, but not plastic or unnaturally pumped-up. She's the picture of innocence defiled, and Karch has obviously seized on this theme in the movie.
Angel Face stars McCray as a naive teen who moves to Hollywood to become an actress...and, of course, winds up in porno. The supporting cast includes Eva Angelina, Jenny Hendrix, Jada Fire, Dakoda Brookes, Billy Glide, Christan XXX and Evan Stone.
"We're very proud of this effort," said VCX head David Sutton. "The talent delivered big-time and the final production is definitely worthy of comparison with our incredible library of the top titles in porn history."
Judging by the trailer, Angel Face succeeds as a welcome return to the movies that once lit up Pussycat Theater marquees and drove adult video sales through the roof.
It may not be an Alex DeRenzy film - but in this age of faceless "niche content," shitty celebrity sex-vids and the endless flood of rip-off "product" churned out by internet greed-mongers, VCX deserves accolades for Angel Face.
