VCX has announced that its Diamond Collection, a slate of 16 high-end European titles, will be available to distributors at a reduced rate of $7 per disc, through August 26. They will also be sold individually, instead of in two-packs.
“After we sent out the screeners, we had a really good response to the product, because it’s incredibly shot,” said VCX president David Sutton. “But what we had done incorrectly — and we were told very quickly in no uncertain terms — was [to] package them as a two-pack. [So] we had cheapened the product, because generally when they [buy] two, one is free. So we had promised that we would repackage it, and in July, we repackaged all of our titles so that they’re all single discs. And as a way a way of saying thanks on the sales side of things, we dropped the price during the initial pre-order period.
“These are really good titles,” Sutton said proudly. “We got an exclusive U.S. arrangement for these from Mario Pollak, who is probably the best of the European directors. It’s not your normal gonzo, that’s for sure.”
