VCA Goes "Indie" with Eon McKai's Art School Sluts

Young, scrappy and hooked into the L.A. junglist scene, neophyte director Eon McKai is being heralded as a "new hope" for VCA Pictures with his experimental debut effort, Art School Sluts.

Fashioning himself - and Sluts - as part of an emerging "indie porn" movement, the 24-year-old McKai hopes to forge a return to the kind of edgy, trailblazing fare that his idols, Alex de Renzy and Gregory Dark, once created.

"I make VCA insanely nervous. You have no fucking idea," McKai told AVN.com jokingly. Nevertheless, he says, they've been highly supportive.

"VCA were the only ones that seemed to be at all receptive. And I think it's because, you know, this is where the fuckin' Dark Brothers were. This is where that shit happened. And it's like, VCA's this fucking sleeping giant.but no one's really come in and said they wanted to shake it up."

That's exactly what McKai wants to do with Art School Sluts, starring Keiko and Felix Vicious. McKai cast the pair for their trueness to the parts, having met them online and on the rave circuit, respectively.VCA describes the flick as "a fuck flick for the emo generation that's bored to tears with their pop's porn."

"There's kids that turn 18 years old this month," McKai went on, "and they want to go and they want to buy their first porno movie, and they get there and absolutely nothing is geared for them. So that's gotta change. Sexuality is totally different [for this generation]. Totally different. And there needs to be a movie to match that."
