VCA Announces Major Changes in Corporate Structure

VCA has announced major changes taking place immediately in their production, sales and pay media marketing departments.

VCA contract director and head of DVD production, Wit Maverick (Double O Blonde, Touch Me, Sopornos 4) has been promoted to vice president of production for VCA Pictures. While he will continue to direct features and oversee all aspects of DVD production, he will now additionally oversee all other aspects of production and feature development – the duties formerly held by VCA contract director/producer Veronica Hart (Sinful Rella, Dangerous Games, Edge Play) who is stepping down in order to launch her own production company, though her adult projects will still be exclusive to VCA.

Maverick has been at VCA for the last five years. Prior to his stint at VCA he worked in mainstream entertainment.

“One of the reasons they tapped me to take Hart’s place was that the focus of our work is going to be more and more on DVD,” Maverick told AVN.com. “DVD units finally surpassed the amount of VHS units sold this year. We’re still going to release VHS, but we expect that market will become more of a niche – though it will never go away.”

One of the new DVD projects that Maverick will oversee is the release of three-hour DVD comps starting in August. “We’ve never issued comps, so this is all footage that has never been organized in a thematic manner before,” said Maverick.

Maverick also says that VCA's production schedule will be doubled within a year.

Hart will be starting her own production company and will be directing six features a year for VCA as an independent producer. While she will still be working on adult projects exclusively for VCA, she will now be able to pursue other mainstream projects outside of the adult entertainment industry.

“It’s really a fine thing," Hart said. "I get to get out from behind the desk and make more movies – which is what I’m supposed to be doing.”

Hart intends to start production on a horror movie in November and expects to make some erotic softcore movies for the cable market.

“To be quite honest, I’m doing that stuff that I know will do well and keep my investors happy. I’m not going to do just one movie and that’s my shot. I plan on being around for a while and I want to keep my investors with me,” said Hart.

Other changes that VCA announced today include the consolidation of the VHS and DVD sales divisions, which will be overseen by Allen Gold, vice president of sales and a five-year veteran with the company.

Kimberly Wilson, former head of Pay Media Licensing for VCA exclusively, has launched her own independent company New Decade Distribution, Inc.  She will continue to represent VCA as well as many other adult companies for the pay media market.
