Update: Singer Says Sex Video Hacked From His Computer

Paris Hilton wasn’t the only celebrity hit with a computer hack last week—Limp Bizkit singer Fred Durst was apparently victimized likewise, when a sex video featuring him turned up online and the singer told reporters a computer repairman was the likely culprit.

"Everyone, probably everyone in this building, has done something similar to what I did, and nobody cares about it," Durst told reporters during a recording break, adding that he was contacted by one company he didn’t name who wanted his cooperation in selling the video.

"If you're high-profile, or on someone's radar ... then it matters,” he said. “What happens to me happens to me, and I have to live with it and go on."

The video clip is said to include the words “T-Mobile Terrorist,” leading some to believe it was the work of the same hacker who hit Paris Hilton’s leaked telephone numbers and e-mail addresses, but Durst said he doesn’t use the T-Mobile service. He was listed among Hilton’s numbers and addresses but said it was an old listing.

"Somebody that was repairing my computer was smart enough to go through anything he could,” he said of the unidentified man he believes stole and posted his video. “What can I say? I'm not proud of it.

"When those things happen to people, there are companies that approach you, say, 'Hey, man, you wanna make some money off this? People are gonna see it anyway'," he continued. "I said, 'Absolutely not, I don't wanna make any money of this. This is ridiculous.' So when you see (celebrity sex videos) out there with big company names on them, you can know people gave them permission to release it."

But a publicist named David Hans Schmidt says thieves contacted him in September 2004 and that they’ve been negotiating with him and with Durst’s representatives since that time.

"I was close to turning something illegal into something legal and then these hackers reneged and went out and put the tape on World Wide Web along with my home telephone number," Schmidt told reporters, adding he didn’t want to say more because he didn’t want to obstruct any investigation.
