UPDATE - Miley Cyrus' 'Tongue Tied' Pulled from Porn Festival

LOS ANGELES—Amidst a profusion of films slated to screen during the inaugural NYC Porn Film Festival, taking place Feb. 27 through March 1 at the Secret Project Robot experimental art gallery in Brooklyn, attendees will get the chance to see former Disney child star and current pop star Miley Cyrus in a four-and-a-half minute version of Tongue Tied.

According to Style.com, "The video ... is directed by Quentin Jones, the fashion filmmaker who has created commercial work for Kenzo, Adidas, Rag & Bone, Chanel, and Louis Vuitton, among others. The film features the singer with surreal eyelashes, animal cutout masks, and black paint as she ties herself up with latex rope, an S&M aesthetic that fashion is long familiar with, from Helmut Newton to Zana Bayne."

The non-explicit short will screen on the first day of the festival along with a number of other films, including Vivid Studios' 20-minute long Tila Tequila: Backdoored & Squirting.

The festival site includes a short description of the Cyrus/Jones submission provided by Sarah Nicole Prockett, editor of ADULT magazine, who wrote, “Miley Cyrus wears that bondage lightly. And literally. She stretches the definition of kink, making it pop. On stage, riding a giant hot dog, she grins like the girl who yells loudest in the 'penis!' game. She could stop, actually, if she wanted to… but she won’t. She wears her latex like she’s dressing up as herself for Halloween: 'I’m a Sexy Miley Cyrus! What are you?'"

According to Simon Leahy, the founder of the NYCPFF, Tongue Tied made its way into the festival by an unusual route. Commenting from Japan, where he is currently traveling, Leahy told AVN, “We found the video and asked if it could be included in the schedule and Miley’s team agreed." Despite the inclusion of her film, news reports indicate that Cyrus is not expected to attend the screening.

The complete schedule of screenings can be found here.

UPDATE

Tongue Tied has been pulled from the festival by the movie's producer, Cadence Fillms, which told the New York Post late Tuesday they were misled by event organizer Simon Leahy into agreeing to have the short screen on the first day of the event.

According to the Post, "The festival’s organizer lied when he said Cyrus had personally submitted the film — a 3-minute erotic, bondage-heavy short titled Tongue Tied — and then misled the production company Cadence Films into granting permission to use it, her representatives said Tuesday night. The producers and the singer’s representatives asked organizer Simon Leahy to remove the film from the festival and its online listings, which Leahy did Tuesday night."

Cadence further explained that while they diid indeed receive a request from Leahy for permission to screen the film, "The festival was presented then as a 'shorts screening at the artist ran space Secret project Robot,' a venue in Bushwick. The e-mail seen by The Post contained no link to the NYC Porn Festival site, where visitors face an '18 and over' checkpoint upon entry."

Leahy responded to that by deflecting responsibility for the misunderstanding back onto Cadence, telling the paper, "Basically they didn’t do their due diligence. We asked to show it at the festival. Because the word porn is involved, basically the media has just sensationalized it and turned it into a click bait story.”

Leahy then took a gratuitous swipe at the adult entertainment industry, and a direct swipe at his media and presenting sponsors, by explaining, "It’s like we are an art festival. Even though we’re using the [word] porn, we’re not some cheap LA porn award festival.”
