In one of the larger such purges in recent times, British telecommunications outfit BT has canned 200 staffers in the past eighteen months for reaching for porn on the job, the London Sunday Telegraph has reported.
Ten of the 200 were referred to the police and some of those will face court actions, according to the Telegraph, while one received a prison sentence of unreported terms, the paper added.
The workers couldn't exactly say they weren't warned. BT sent an e-mail to its entire 100,000-strong workforce warning that visiting the adult Internet on the job could leave them without jobs.
"BT takes the issue of pornography very seriously," the company told The Telegraph. "BT will not tolerate improper use of he Internet, intranet and email, and disciplinary action will be taken against employees who breach the company's policies on their use."
