Two new players have entered what you might call the cash.com contest. M.P. Galaxy is banking on making a dent by offering adult website memberships in cash, while GOiii.com is offering prepaid dial-up Internet service cards.
"(A)dult visitors are reluctant to use their credit cards to gain viewing access to (adult Web)sites," says M.P. Galaxy sales director Jonathan Hoo. "First of all, they do not want to receive bills with these companies' names on them. Secondly, they would like to avoid any disputes over these transactions. Lastly, some people just don't like to use credit cards."
That, he says, is why M.P. Galaxy is jumping into offering adult Websites where memberships are prepaid and bought in retail locations. They're packaged in several ways, as "membership cards, magazines, DVDs, and VHS's," he says. And they'll be sold in places from airport newsstands to adult entertainment clubs.
GOiii.com is offering pre-paid dial-up Internet service cards in three configurations: seven days, thirty days, and one year. A seven-day card costs $9; a thirty-day card costs $19; and, a one-year card costs $99. These, too, will be sold in various locations, including transit depots, convenience stores, and computer software stores.
"There is no software needed, nor is there any download time for installation of GOiii.com Internet service," the company says. "This… will appeal to several different markets, including those without credit cards, travelers outside their local ISP range, and those who wish to retain some privacy while using the Internet, to name a few."
It also offers a wide choice of local access numbers plus an individual user e-mail address.
They're also offering what they call a Private Labeling program. This involves building website traffic by letting consumers dial up directly, the company says. "Through promotions and giveaways, companies and individuals will be giving away GOiii.com prepaid cards with their names on them. The first page a user will always log onto will be that of the Private Labeled company or individual…enabling them to boost sales, acquire new customers, better service existing customers, and increase brand loyalty."
