Two Adult Webcam Site Operators Shot By Police

A shootout between two Dutch brothers running adult Web sites from a Manila house and police trying to arrest them ended when the brothers were shot and killed May 25.

Willen C. Van Englenburg and his brother Hendrikus Erik were said to have run Web sites featuring women stripping and performing sex acts live on Internet cameras. The brothers reportedly resisted arrest and fired on officers who tried to serve an arrest warrant during a raid on their home in Quezon City, a Manila suburb.

Authorities reported the incident publicly the following day. A government statement indicated the raid was part of a pair of simultaneous moves against what authorities called “cybersex dens” owned by the Van Englenburgs, following several weeks of surveillance and investigation. Police also arrested the Filipino wife of one of the Van Englenburgs as well as a male cashier.

Five women were found at the house and told authorities they were paid to strip and perform sexually for the live Net cameras, mostly for American clients. Each woman earned 50,000 pesos (US$915) a month for her performance.
