Tougher Videopeep Law Passes NC House

Videotaping anyone while peeping into a room would graduate from a felony to a misdemeanor under a bill that passed North Carolina's House of Representatives this week.

That would apply whether the subject is a male of female, according to the text of the bill. Current law makes videotape peeping a misdemeanor and applies it only when the subject is a woman or a girl.

Those backing the new bill say current law also means videopeepers won't see prison until or unless they've been caught on multiple occasions.
