The City Council in Waverly is encouraging their constituents to write to Adelphia expressing their objections to the cable company's plan of offering adult programming to local residents. rnrn

"We don't feel it's appropriate," said Waverly Mayor Bill Kelly. "I just don't think there's a place for it." rnrn

The council itself will be sending a letter to Adelphia in which they will raise their objections to the programming decision and ask the Adelphia officials to appear before council to listen to their concerns before making any decision.rnrn

Adelphia intends to introduce pay-per-view titles on their cable systems, a reversal of a policy that for a long time left them as the only cable company that did not carry pornography. rn rn

Kelly said the council's primary fear is that children might access the programming without parental consent. Parents would only learn of the situation when they receive their bills, he said. rnrn
