John Curtis Holmes is the first pop icon of pornography. He also had a wicked cocaine habit that made him a prime suspect in a shocking multiple murder. The film "Boogie Nights" was loosely based on the life of Holmes, who acted under the name "Johnny Wadd." A book that tells the tale of Holmes sordid self-destruction is excerpted in the April issue of Penthouse. "Pop Shots: The Uncensored Oral History of the Adult Film Industry" by Legs McNeil, sheds new light on the grisly murders of four buddies Holmes was once accused of committing. It also interviews several female porn stars, who tell how good he really was in bed. Annette Haven says that having sex with Holmes was "like doing it with a big, soft loofah sponge."
