The Private Fantasy Channel Planned For Fourth Quarter

Private Media Group Inc. intends to challenge Playboy TV and New Frontier Media for a portion of the adult broadcast market, starting with the launch of the Private Fantasy Channel later this year.

However, Private isn’t telling where you can watch the channel quite yet – citing on-going negotiations as the primary reason why.

The international adult entertainment company claims to have signed a five-year agreement to have the Private Fantasy Channel distributed to over 8 million homes as a 24/7 pay-per-view service on an undisclosed cable carrier.

In addition, Private's Private Blue channel will be made available as part of the same carrier’s Spanish language package in the US.

The Private Fantasy Channel will consist of adult films and videos, original series, interviews and special features that cater exclusively to adults. Private will utilize its extensive archive and ongoing production to provide content for the channel – something that Charles Prast, Private Media Group’s president and CEO, feels will give Private a competitive advantage.

“As the owner of all of the programming to be broadcast on these channels, the incremental revenues contribute heavily to our bottom line and will more than compensate for any loss in third party licensing income, " Prast said.

Both Playboy TV and New Frontier Media, who together account for approximately 95 percent of the adult broadcast market, depend on outside studios to provide the bulk of the adult films and videos they broadcast.

Eventually, Private hopes to have their channels carried across the United States, something they expect will also help their traditional video business by increasing the recognition of the Private brand.

"That’s certainly going to broaden our marketing capabilities one hundred fold,” Bob Johnson, COO of Private USA, told AVN.com. “We’re now going to touch markets heretofore untouched by Private.”
