Tall and tan and young and lovely - the Penthouse Pets from Ipanema come walking? Starwave, a local pay television programmer, is about to launch a 24-hour Penthouse TV channel, with plans to expand elsewhere in Latin America.
Variety reports the channel will feature Penthouse-produced films from the United States, other softcore porn, and will be the international market's first channel featuring Penthouse-branded programming.
Reportedly, Starwave has dubbed into Portuguese over 100 Penthouse films made in the United States.
The channel will also feature purchased films from the U.S. and Europe as well as shows produced locally, Starwave told Variety. Penthouse TV's scheduled debut is May 25.
Starwave is no stranger to broadcast porn; they already produce a hardcore adult channel, Cinesex, as well as two regular film channels, and publish Brazil's edition of Hustler. They are getting the rights to publish a Brazilian edition of Penthouse beginning later this year, Variety said.
