The Erotic Museum Inducts Hugh Hefner into Hall of Fame

Citing his impact on the nation’s ideas concerning beauty and calling him “one of the most democratizing forces in sexuality in the last century,” The Erotic Museum has announced its plans to celebrate Playboy founder Hugh Hefner’s place in its Erotic Hall of Fame.

Museum curator Eric Singley told AVN.com that the invitation-only private press event is scheduled for 1:30 to 2:30 on Tuesday, September 14, with Hefner and his entourage in attendance and comedian Bill Maher emceeing.

The Erotic Hall of Fame celebrates sexual pioneers from across various disciplines, including such luminaries as actress Mae West, psychoanalysis pioneer Sigmund Freud and reproduction rights activist Margaret Sanger. Hefner will be the first of the Hall’s members to receive an official induction.

The ceremony will also kick off a special Playboy exhibit at the museum, which will include Alberto Vargas paintings from the Playboy collection, one of the first bunny costumes, and personal effects donated by Hefner himself. While the exhibit will continue, the induction happens only once.

Says Singley, “If you want to join the museum at the VIP level, you can have the opportunity to meet Hef.”
