The AVN Online Interview: Kyla Cole

She's one of the most beautiful girls in the world, a 24-year-old, blue-eyed brunette, standing 5 feet 7 inches and blessed with a lovely 36-24-35 body, though her strongest feature might well be her complete lack of inhibition.

Kyla Cole is another stellar example of how Eastern Europe produces amazing female models. She'd been a cult favorite among adult magazine connoisseurs, having appeared under the name Martina in Europe and then Kyla Cole on both sides of the Atlantic, particularly after Penthouse made her a Pet in March 2000. This caught the attention of director Andrew Blake, who cast her in three of his films: Exhibitionists, Blond and Brunettes, and the acclaimed The Villa (which garnered seven nominations and eventually won Best Cinematography at the 2003 AVN Awards).

Those understandably enthralled by her unabashed eroticism can learn more from her official Website, www.kylacole.net (also accessible via www.kylacolesite.com), much of which she updates and maintains herself. The site currently gets 65,000 unique visitors each month, its pageviews hover around the 100,000 mark, and 40 percent of its members come from the United States. The site is not to be confused with www.kylacole.com, which she does not endorse and advises her fans not to use, though she does encourage fans to partake of her new adjunct site www.kylacolepresents.com, featuring girl-girl layouts.

Currently living in the Czech town of Ostrava, 200 miles from Prague and close to the Slovakian border, Kyla also works as a professional makeup artist and has applied both blush and brush to other models on her site's photo shoots. She even takes her Webcam with her while traveling so that she can perform her scheduled live shows despite her modeling assignments, with a diligence that surely makes her adult Internet's prettiest poster girl for international relations.

AVN Online: You're originally from Slovakia, but why do you prefer to live in the Czech Republic?

Kyla Cole: It's where my friends are, and where my Web studio is. My family lives in Slovakia and I visit them often, but I'm happy to live where I live.

AO: You were photographed lounging nude astride a motorcycle in Australian Penthouse, when they made you their May 2002 Pet of the Month. Are you a real biker chick?

KC: You can't believe everything they write about me in magazines! (laughs) We did the photo shoot with the motorbike and Penthouse made up a story to go with it. The truth is, I do like riding a bike - but only on the back seat!

AO: You've had your Website since March 21, 2001. Can you remember how you came to start the Website?

KC: I wanted a site after I'd heard from several people that I should have one. The problem was that I lived in Europe and thought that this could be only done in the U.S.A., so I negotiated with a few U.S. companies. But they either asked for too much money or a percentage, and often they just talked and talked but no action. My current partners, Patrik Josifko and Adrian Daskalov, accepted the challenge, and here we are. The company is called PegasArt, and the studio is owned by Adrian and Patrik and I. We all live in the same town, so it's much easier to work on the site.

AO: I understand that another famous adult entertainer was influential in getting you started on your own site.

KC: Yes, I was talking to Taylor Wane. She told me that operating her own Website had become a full-time job for her. I had never intended to put as much energy into a site, but soon after I opened one of my own, everything fell into place. I realized that if I concentrated more on the site, I could use it to gain more popularity by reaching out to the online community. It also brings me lots of new jobs and opportunities.

AO: Do you get more e-mails from fans in your home country or throughout Europe, as opposed to the United States?

KC: I think it's about 50-50 between Europe and America.

AO: From the e-mails you do get, would you say your European fans are different from your American fans?

KC: No, there's no big difference. The only thing I noticed is that Europeans are better at geography. (laughs)

AO: What about fans in your home country, Slovakia?

KC: I'm not very famous in Slovakia, mainly because I choose not to be. But I'm becoming more famous in my home country now, as the media has gradually been discovering who is hiding behind the name Kyla Cole! (laughs)

AO: Which areas of your site are the most popular among your fans?

KC: Pretty much all the sections where I give my fans a peek into my private life. I do that a lot. The fans love my online diary and they generally tell me that I'm one of the few models on the Internet that has a down-to-earth attitude. Everyone loves my news section that I write every week. They comment on it a lot. The chat area and my backstage section both get a lot of attention, and what's also very popular are my meetings with my fans.

AO: How do you arrange to meet your fans?

KC: I've stated on my site that every fan can get his chance to invite me for dinner or a cup of coffee, provided he's been a loyal fan to my site and will travel to where I am at any specific moment. The other conditions are that he will behave like a gentleman and he will realize that it's only a meeting and not a date. Up to now, I've done such meetings several times, with huge success.

AO: You've written on your site about your work doing makeup, since you're now a certified makeup artist. Will we see more shoots on your site where you do the makeup too? Is this a new career direction for you?

KC: Actually, I do not do makeup only for my online photos. I've started to work as a makeup artist for professional photographers, too. They say I'm doing well, so of course I'd like to continue. My goal is to become a serious, established fashion or television makeup artist.

AO: You appeared in three of Andrew Blake's recent films. What was it like working with Andrew Blake?

KC: I loved working with him. I think The Villa is the best film he's ever made, and I'm not saying that just because I'm in it! We went to Rome and spent a week at a villa in Frascati. I loved being there, especially since I was working with two other models, Tara Radovic and Nika Mamic, who are friends of mine from the Czech Republic. We'd all done still photo sessions together before, and so the shoot went really well. I have good memories of the whole experience and I consider it my best achievement so far.

AO: Now that you're finally doing films, do you see yourself as someone making the transition from magazine model to porn star, like many of the girls in the industry?

KC: No. I still think of myself as a glamour model or nude model. There is a very inexact line between this and what most people would call porn. Andrew's films, for instance, are not porn -- they're fetish-oriented fantasies. And I like that. I like doing these kinds of films, and working only with girls. Sex with men is something I do only in my personal life. I want to leave something for privacy. Why spoil sex by having it as a job? And why not leave something to the viewers' imagination?

AO: Do you enjoy viewing hardcore sex yourself, either on the Web or in print or video?

KC: I honestly do not watch much porn nor do I browse erotic Websites. I have such a lot of work, with my own site and other stuff, so there is little time left for me to enjoy porn myself. Should I choose to watch movies or on the Web, I'd choose high-quality stuff like Andrew Blake's. I do not like the type of porn with low budgets and ugly actors or situations.

AO: Are there any new features that you would like to add to your current Website?

KC: I'm constantly trying to improve my site. Recently I opened a new site called www.kylacolepresents.com. Every girl you see there gets to shoot a girl-girl scene with me. I get to taste her first before presenting her to the audience. (laughs) Of course, my regular site's members won't come up short in this deal, as I always put the best pictures from those girl-girl scenes there as well.

AO: How do you feel about doing the live Webcam shows and the live Webchats?

KC: I conduct the Webcam shows myself. I do not do any masturbation shows if I do not feel like it. I do the chats every week and because I have fans that do not want me to get naked on the cam, we just chat. They have the opportunity to talk to me in real time and they make use of it. Of course, at least once a month I get nasty during the chat and do things I normally don't. (laughs)

AO: Does that turn you on more sexually, compared to posing for photographers?

KC: It depends on my mood, but I'd say that it is usually more of a turn-on for me to do the Webcam than to pose for magazines.

AO: Why is that, do you think?

KC: When I'm posing for a photographer, most of the poses are very carefully prepared. But for the Webcam, I can do whatever I want to. I get sexually turned-on -- from the spontaneity and the anonymity.
