STUDIO CITY, Calif. - All six Vivid Girls plus Tera Patrick - together in the same place, at the same time. That's the porn equivalent of the Pentagon flaunting its biggest guns in one parade.
This set is a big one for the studio that invented the contract girl concept. An orgy scene with the current exclusives, directed by superstar Patrick, a former Vivid Girl herself, is the primary-but by no means the only-order of business.
Marci Hirsch, Vivid's longtime production chief, is as busy as a mother hen with a brood of new chicks as she shuttles the stars through a roundabout of activities on three levels of a hillside house not far from Vivid's Cahuenga Blvd. headquarters.
"It's so rare that we get all the girls together-except at AEE in January-that we really try to make the most of it and get as much done as possible," Hirsch tells AVN.
The orgy, she says, "will be its own movie," titled Vivid Red. "Red is a power color and Vivid's girls are all-powerful." Patrick, in addition to directing the action, will interview each of the girls on camera as a prelude to the sex.
Everything is to be "red on red" - the girls in red lingerie, using red sex toys. An assortment of dildos, vibrators and butt-plugs from the Doc Johnson-marketed Vivid line have been laid out on a couch, just waiting for the girls to activate them.
Every bit of action is being captured by a crew from World of Wonder Productions. They're shooting footage for a sequel to the Showtime-broadcast "half-hour comedy reality/docu-soap" about the making of Debbie Does Dallas Again, which featured several of the same Vivid Girls along with Hirsch and her brother, Vivid founder and co-chairman Steven.
Hardly less important today is the creation of the Vivid Girl poster for the 2009 Adult Entertainment Expo in Las Vegas. Photographer B. Skow keeps busy posing each girl in turn in front of a drop curtain on the ground level of the house.
On the top floor Vivid mainstays Shylar Cobi and Ralph Parfait are shooting promos for an online DVD retailer, one girl at a time. At one point director Paul Thomas enters unannounced, strikes some poses for the reality crew, and just as abruptly leaves (after plugging his new release Cry Wolf to AVN).
On the second level, a room set aside for interviews is soon taken over by Patrick and her entourage: husband Evan Seinfeld and two women assistants, one a makeup artist.
On every level of the house the WOW crew is making sure that all the girls, each a photogenic charmer, get equal time on camera.
Briana Banks' seven-year run as a Vivid Girl is perhaps the longest of any active contract performer, even counting a year and a half hiatus. Striding around the house on her magnificent legs, she looks like a goddess come down to earth.
Equally alluring are sophisticated Savanna Samson and the exquisite Monique Alexander. Sunny Leone, the first girl wearing red, looks, well, sunny and super-hot.
Attention however invariably focuses on the spunky, sexy, new frisky fillies: brunette Meggan Mallone-proudly sporting a fine enhanced rack of 32Cs-and blonde, leggy Hanna Hilton.
Hilton is tall (5'9 ¾" barefoot), bosomy (34D naturals), blue-eyed and just as fresh as can be. She has been a Vivid Girl for all of five weeks. But she's worked as a model for almost two years: centerfolds in Hustler, Penthouse, Club as well as solo scenes on websites like Twistys.com (Treat of the Month) and MattsModels.com (one of their most popular girls).
Brought to L.A. from her native Indiana by an agent who discovered her online, she now lives in Houston, which coincidentally, is Meggan's hometown.
She decided to do hardcore when her porn talent boyfriend, Jack Venice, refused to stop doing scenes. "I said, ‘If you're going to do it I might as well too.'"
Her first two hardcore appearances were with Venice for Brazzers, and he also partnered her in the very first scene she shot for Vivid. Venice, she says, is "fine" with her doing hardcore. "But I still hate it that he does it. I'm the hypocrite in this whole thing."
She was drawn to Vivid after doing some softcore work in Miami with Sunny Leone, who "really talked up" the Vivid Girl experience.
The theme of the Vivid Red scene, according to Hirsch, is the easing of Hilton into her first full-on girl-girl sex. "The pros will be teaching her," she says.
"I love Hanna!" Mallone interjects.
Hilton has already had some schooling in her first full Vivid movie, Hannah and Meggan Love Manuel, in which she has a threeway sex scene with co-stars Mallone and Manuel Ferrara.
How was it to work with the hugely endowed Frenchman?
Meggan holds her hands about a foot apart and rolls her eyes.
"I was afraid at first," says Hanna, "but it turned out great."
Today Hilton will see her first girl-girl action without a dick in sight. "I'm nervous, really nervous," she says. "It will definitely be a new experience."
For Tera Patrick, now fully made up and looking regal, this will be the first time she's directed for Vivid, though she has helmed some of her own product.
"I'm up for the challenge," she smiles. "These are all great girls. I've worked with all of them, except for Meggan and Hanna."
There's something new about Tera: a magnificent dragon tattoo that slithers up the length of her right arm, wrist to shoulder. She had it done last month in Tokyo, by the ancient "toburi" method. It took four days for the outline and four days for the coloring, after which, she says, she needed some time off to rest.
It's clearly the work of an artist, and still unfinished, with "wind bars" to be tattooed on the underside of the arm.
Born in the Year of the Dragon, Patrick always wanted a dragon tattoo, at first thinking to do a small one on her back. But she decided to commit her whole right arm to it, seeing it as a symbol of strength and good luck-qualities on display today.
Before the group scene starts, rocker Dave Navarro, Patrick's friend and Teravision director (he'll be shooting the Broken sequel next month), stops by to chat with her and the girls, a guest appearance dutifully captured by the BTS cameras.
The orgy itself is non-stop high energy with Tera driving the talent until they can go no more, leaving all exhausted. Briana Banks is heard to comment, "I don't have any spit left."
"We sucked every last bit of life out of those girls," Marci Hirsch told AVN the next day. It was, she said, a fitting climax to a lot of hard work. "We did so much stuff. It was a great day-and I couldn't wait to get home."
