Sue Johanson, a grandmother who has been known to sew her own clothes and curtains, is at first glance an unlikely persona for California Exotic Novelties to develop a signature line of adult novelties around – but that’s only if you’re unaware of the Canadian sex educator’s successful sex advice show on the Oxygen Network.
Now in it’s third season, the Oxygen Network’s Talk Sex With Sue Johanson seemingly gains in popularity and media exposure with each episode, making Johanson, a sex educator for over thirty years, exactly the right persona for a Cal Exotic signature line.
Especially when you throw in her nursing degree, her radio show, her books, and her thirty years of experience critiquing adult novelties and dispensing frank sexual advice to Canadians as the host of the Sunday Night Sex Show.
“We are thrilled to have Sue join our family,” offered California Exotic Novelties’ founder and president, Susan Colvin. “Our sex toys have always been created by women – for women. To have someone of Sue’s stature, who possesses her years of educational, medical and practical knowledge, design and endorse her own signature line of sex toys for us is certainly a coupe.”
Al Bloom, California Exotic Novelties’ director of marketing, told AVN.com that the Johanson line would showcase new materials and consist of items not presently carried by Cal Exotic, and that Johanson would design the line herself.
“Who better to design her own line of sex toys than Sue Johanson?” Bloom suggested.
“We’ve been reviewing sex toys for years on the show,” Johanson said, “and we’ve certainly seen our share of the good and the bad. I think it’s great that California Exotic Novelties is giving us a chance to put all that expertise to good use.”
Johanson is also an internationally recognized sexual educator and counselor, as well as the recipient of the distinguished Order of Canada.
The Talk Sex With Sue Johanson Sex Toy Line is scheduled to debut January 2005.
