THROWING UP FOR JERRY?

There are plenty who say The Jerry Springer Show makes them want to barf, but this is something else again: Canada all but says guests had a perfect right to throw up on the show - and on their sexual partners.

Canada's television censor, the Canadian Broadcast Standards Court ruled Thursday that free speech concerns mean it's not exactly breaching industry codes on ethics and sex-role portrayals, as the Hollywood Reporter phrases it.

The question arose over a Springer episode broadcast in Canada June 9, on which guests spoke of being sexually aroused when vomiting on their partners during sexual activity. The Reporter says that, at one point during the show, one guest vomited on another and splattered the soundstage.

Ironically, the CBSC ruling came the night before the last showing of The Jerry Springer Show was to air on Canada's CFMT in Toronto.
