Technically, Club FUCK! no longer exists. But that did not stop promoters ESP from resurrecting the dormant techno/industrial dance club for one Sunday night Labor Day weekend.
At the El Ray Theater, a leather-and-corset crowd shook to mega-decibels of the local industrial band Babyland, whose own legend includes an onstage reputation for insanity such as banging a 40-gallon drum of burning oil and running a chainsaw which sprayed the audience with sparks.
Club FUCK! began ten years ago in a tiny Silver Lake dance club, gaining quick notoriety for intense, hardcore S&M-oriented performances. Word of mouth forced the club to larger accommodations, which brought in turn the dread "tourist" element - which eventually sounded its death knell.
Bringing it back as a full capacity, annual special event guarantees its legendary status. But many of the old-timers who patronized it in the early days probably wish it back each week.
